Why use a blade server? Save resources and effort
Classic rack servers in the standard format require their own components for power supply, connection to the network and their own integrated cooling to operate. Likewise, management via IPMI or other solutions is always carried out on the respective rack system. This requires a higher workload for the administration of different physical servers in the data center. In turn this increases the general workload for cooling, cable management and for the overall operation of the server.
The advantages of a blade server for your company:
Modern blade servers combine the components for power supply, all necessary connections and cooling so saving the installation of these parts in the respective server systems. This in turn enables a more compact design of the actual servers, a central management based on a chassis management module (CMM) and a fast exchange of individual systems without changes to the cooling or cabling.
Blade server: Key points for this powerful technology
- Compact and powerful
Even on tight spaces, Microblade servers can be used to set up powerful data centers that greatly simplify the complexity of a server park with redundant power supply and a minimum of necessary lines and connections.
A modern 8U rack with Supermicro Superblade servers can hold up to 20 servers. Classic rack servers in 2U format fill an entire server rack. Thanks to the compact super-blade design, the system efficiently reduces the use of space and energy resources and thus also valuable space for the operation of your computing systems.
An even further compact design of the Microblade servers even allows the operation of 28 individual servers at a height of 6U. This corresponds to a supercomputer in a single 42U rack. - Flexible use
Hot swapping allows individual blade servers to be removed from the system and replaced with the latest blade modules without affecting the continuous operation of the remaining systems.
Supermicro Superblade server - another highlight in the HAPPYWARE range
Optimizing the superblade servers towards compact storage modules increases the possible number of processors while at the same time ensuring redundant power supply, central operation of the management console and direct networking of the systems. Two Ethernet connections with up to ten Gigabit and, depending on the blade chassis, two additional internal 25 Gigabit switches create the basis for a high bandwidth for connecting the blade servers.
Cooling with a total of 8 or 16 individual redundant coolers dissipates any heat in server operation. In combination with a redundant power supply, starting with two modules of 1200 W each up to a high-end solution with four modules of 3000 W each, the professional continuous operation of the individual systems is ensured as well as the data protection of valuable corporate content. This blade server variant at is also available from HAPPYWARE.
Supermicro Microblade Server - Even more compact and yet particularly powerful
The latest generation of blade servers further reduces the dimensions of the individual systems by 56 percent and reduces space to just three or six height units. Using modern Xeon-E5 dual-socket solutions, a total of 28 servers with 18 cores each can be operated on six height units. This corresponds to 3528 processor cores in a standard 42 inch high server rack. A classic rack server solution with 1U systems requires a total of five individual racks for the same number of processors. Where previously large rooms and halls were necessary for the operation of a server park, the required space is reduced by 80 % compared to classic racks.
Your own data center in just one rack - ideally equipped with a blade server from HAPPYWARE
Rack systems require high initial investments in space, operation, power supply and cooling. With just one blade server based rack system, you can achieve supercomputer-level performance with up to 80% less space, power and capital investment.
We will be happy to advise you on all aspects of blade servers offering you a customized solution for the operation of your future data center or your cloud based computing on the basis of Supermicro Super Blade and Micro Blade servers.
