NVMe Storage Server - The strengths of NVMe SSDs in action
When directly comparing NVMe SSDs and SATA SSDs, it becomes evident that NVMe SSDs and the PCIe interface are superior. In a NVMe storage server, comparable computations are performed faster than in a network of SATA SSDs. NVMe servers also impress with their low power consumption and latency. The NVMe SSDs are ultra-compact and are therefore ideal for reducing the technical complexity of server farms and also the potential number of SPOFs (Single-points-of-failure).
Servers with NVMe SSDs offer these features in detail:
- Large data throughput or bandwidth
- Increased IOPS (Input/Output operations per second)
- Fast reading and writing of processed data
- Significantly lower latency than SATA SSDs (20µs to 37µs for SATA SSDs)
