What is a high-performance computer?
High-performance computers are used for computations that are very complex, require enormous computing power, and/or take up a lot of time. They are usually used when conventional computing power could not technically accomplish the respective task or when it would not make economic sense to use them for this purpose.
The term high-performance computer does not have an exact definition. Both the hardware equipment and the actual task the computer has to perform are crucial for this. Depending on customer requirements, we provide either HPC workstations or high-performance computing servers.
How to buy or rent the ideal high-performance computer – the support we offer.
To ensure that your new high-performance computer can offer maximum performance once it has been built, we give great importance to consistently designing the product from the beginning according to the requirements of your company or organization.
Whether it‘s as a HPC workstation or a HPC server — in order to properly scale your software and hardware, we will address the following questions together with you:
- What is the manufacturer's recommendation for the processor?
For complex simulation programs and related software, there are usually recommendations from the manufacturers. If your high-performance system meets these recommended hardware specifications, it can run the program with the necessary efficiency. - Is there a GPU card or Intel coprocessor card implementation for the application?
If implementations for GPU cards or coprocessor cards are already available, your high-performance computer can provide additional computing resources for the respective programs. This makes them even more efficient to use. - How many parallel tasks are required? We are happy to create high-performance computers for you that are optimized for parallel computing. The HPC workstations and servers are able to perform a number of different tasks simultaneously with the same performance.
- How many jobs will be started in parallel on multiple HPC servers?
Our high-performance computers can be easily configured to run multiple jobs on different HPC servers. Depending on the requirement profile, we offer our customers high-performance computers that can handle complex tasks simultaneously and give the best performance. - How large are the input and output data of the application?
High-performance computers work most effectively in a cluster or grid in combination with corresponding high-performance storage. In addition to the pure computing power, it needs to be ensured that data can be read out quickly, transmitted over the network, and rewritten in a minimal amount of time. This is extremely important for extensive applications and works with large data sets. - Do you need to store temporary data?
Depending on the volume of any temporary data, the cache of the HPC computer must be sufficiently large so that essential computing processes are not delayed. We are happy to adapt your HPC system technically to meet the corresponding requirements.
With HAPPYWARE you get the perfect high-performance solutions for every application.
Based on your specifications, we will create a highly functional, powerful HPC system that is optimized to your requirements. From multicore-capable processors to GPU-based processors, we will install exactly the hardware you need in your high-performance server.
We are happy to coordinate this service with your entire IT network to ensure full compatibility and operational readiness on site. With HAPPYWARE, you can buy or rent a high-performance computer that is tailored to your applications and requirements across all levels
