SAS Storage Server - Reliable Data Transfer via SAS Interface
Both Fibre Channel (FC) and iSCSI have made a name for themselves in the area of network protocols. If one considers smaller server environments with DAS solutions instead of extensive and branched SAN environments, the SAS interface can assert itself as a point-to-point connection for various reasons.
Use storage solutions with an SAS interface for your own servers as a proven and cost-effective alternative to FC or iSCSI. We will be happy to help you find the right hardware and configuration.

What does SAS stand for?
SAS is short for Serial Attached SCSI. The serial protocol for the transfer of data replaces its predecessor Parallel SCSI.
The SAS protocol allows a significantly increased data transfer rate compared to the old parallel SCSI protocol - instead of 320 MB/s with SCSI, 12 Gbit/s are now possible with SAS. The interface is designed for hot-plugging, and SATA hard disks can also be connected to the SAS controllers.
SAS Storage and the advantages of the SAS interface
- Simple and cost-effective acquisitionSAS is a technical advancement that was deliberately developed with the Serial ATA (SATA) interface in mind. The possibility to connect SATA hard disks to the SAS or the SAS controller (directly or via a bridge) makes SAS storage systems highly flexible. Moreover, by using these very common interfaces, there are no additional expenses for software licenses.
- Full scalability of the SAS Storage ServerIn employing the SAS interface, you have to consider that the respective devices (storage and server) must be located close to each other. Unlike Fibre Channel or iSCSI, SAS is designed for DAS environments. You can expand the SAS storage almost indefinitely in this area - if necessary to thousands of hard disks. To expand the storage capacity over JBODs, for example, many more physical hard disks can be connected to an SAS interface via Edge Expander or Fanout Expander.
- Performance increase with RAID controllersWhen using SAS storage systems, you have the option of connecting JBODs or other disk arrays to servers via SAS as DAS. This additional external storage can then be comprehensively managed via a RAID controller and configured for different RAID levels.
SAS Storage Systems from HAPPYWARE - Strong solutions and services for your company
Connecting storage units directly to server structures, setting up RAID systems, or connecting several hard disks together - all this and more is available with an SAS storage system from HAPPYWARE.
Upgrade your servers with high-performance hardware and benefit from our services:
- Configure and purchase your SAS Storage SystemsWith HAPPYWARE‘S in-house BTO (Build-to-Order) system, there is no need to rely on a pre-packaged storage solution for your business. From the number of hard disks to the SAS interface, you can determine the configuration of the system. Based on this information we will assemble your SAS Storage System as well as any other system individually.
- Rent and lease SAS storage solutionsMany applications in DAS environments require a high level of storage space and performance. We ensure that the performance of your applications and servers is not limited by your budget. We offer suitable financing terms for companies of all sizes. Even if your budget is tight, there is no need to compromise on your IT equipment./li>
